For six years, Hiatus Kaiyote has been crafting their latest masterpiece, Mood Valiant, a testament to the band's unwavering dedication to their craft and their ability to transform adversity into art. In 2015, Hiatus Kaiyote's frontwoman Nai Palm received a devastating diagnosis: breast cancer. As she underwent treatment, the band rallied around her, supporting her through a difficult period.

Meanwhile, Hiatus Kaiyote was also dealing with other challenges. In 2017, the band's guitarist and vocalist, Naomi 'Nai Palm' Saalfield, lost her mother to breast cancer, further emphasizing the importance of their music as a way to process grief and find solace.
